<reviewbody>This movie is similar to Roger Corman's "The Last Woman on Earth." Despite its exploitation of human skin, it's rather good. Alright, let's not be hypocritical, it's good at least partly because of it. The men remove their shirts even earlier than they do in "Last Woman" and the women don't wear any in the first place, because they're pearl divers.

Like that movie, it features two initially closely-bonded male protagonists, whose relationship disintegrates under the stress of greed, for pearls in this movie, for "the last woman" in the other. In this movie the "bad" brother is undone by greed and "shark-magic" exerted by the "madame" of the pearl divers. Without the magic, he would certainly have prevailed, as did the "bad" male in "Last Woman."

The movie is interesting partly as an exercise in reading between the lines, if that's not too uncinematic a metaphor. Should I say "viewing" between the "frames?" Viewing "Last Woman" shortly before viewing "Sharks" certainly helps.

Obviously of special interest and appeal for those who like Roger Corman, as I do. I'm not sure why.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>This is a pretty good Corman movie. Iconic characters and nice settings are used. It's a typical morality tale set in Hawaii. 'Nuff said.

I downloaded the mpeg1 file. The video had very noticeable compression artifacts. The audio is fine.
